For me . . . . a lot! I enjoy books by Dan Brown and J.K. Rowling. Now I must admit that that doesn’t always work. J.K Rowling wrote a book called “The Casual Vacancy” HATED IT!

However,

If it hadn’t contained her name, I wouldn’t have even picked It up.

That’s an unfortunate happenstance because, If we only purchase books from authors we know and respect, we don’t bother cracking open a book that might very well introduce us to a new gem of an author.

We need to be daring, and step outside our comfort zone.

I find that books are a lot like art, it’s difficult to suggest a book to someone because every reader is searching for some intangible items that he/she might or might not find in the pages of a book.

I enjoy well written but easy to read books. I don’t appreciate the necessity of having a dictionary at my hand or having to read and re-read the page to grasp its meaning. I want to have a picture in my mind instantaneously appear because the words create a vision in my mind. I know others who don’t want it so black and white and want the words to leave it up to the reader to decide.

Nope not me.

There is something comforting about reading a new book from an author we know. He/she has a cadence we recognize. But once again, maybe getting too comfortable isn’t a good thing, it’s too limiting.
